The Bible allows uncoupling. Christianity doesn’t.

“God hates divorce!” As a kid, I heard that a lot. The Creator wants you married. You get one spouse, so choose wisely—ideally, when you’re a teenager.

When I started reading Bible scholarship, I found the ban on divorce just evaporates. The tradition made it up—and I started to develop ideas why.
