Have you seen the Second Mountain?
When we start out in business we have a vision for what success will look like when we are finally standing on top of a mountain of work, innovation and creativity that brings to us a level of “success” that we could only of dreamed of before.
But after climbing that first mountain we realize that it was only obscuring our view from an even greater mountain, our “second mountain” that unlike the first it is based on a greater concept of “success” as achieving true happiness; acceptance of ourselves, our life and our purpose not based on dollar signs or popularity.
To get there we have to descend to the depths of the valley again. We have to learn how to go downhill and appreciate all that it too has to teach us. While we descend we reflect on climbing our first mountain retracing our steps and learning how with experience we will be a much more skilled climber for our second ascent.
I’m excited and blessed to be on the journey to climb my second mountain. Who else is coming?
