Are you getting tired of sitting continuously in front of the monitor for hours attending every class online and waiting for this situation to be over??

Well, I got some news for you!!

Even after the pandemic is over(hoping for that day!!) the education system will not be as same as it was before the pandemic.

In this article, Let’s see how the world is transitioning its education methods and how the pandemic has accelerated the changes.

INTRODUCTION

Online teaching is not a new way of teaching invented just after this Pandemic. To cope with the industry’s demand, the students need to learn more than what they have learned in their classrooms.

Since the Pandemic has imposed a huge risk on traditional classroom-based education methods, online teaching becomes the only viable solution for the students to continue their education.

Apart from growing concerns about how online teaching will affect a student’s mentality and decrease in the rate of the students’ grade. Let’s see how online teaching will change the way of deciding your carrier and how government policies linked with online education affect your admission and employment opportunities.

What will happen to your higher education??.

ABROAD STUDENTS:

If you are planning to do your degree program abroad, Here are some of the effects you can probably expect in the coming years.

No face to face teaching or exams: Many universities are trying to reduce the number of on-campus international students as possible. So In the following years, the curriculum for international students will be designed in such a way that they pursue their degree via an online program.

Pursuing a Master’s or Research degree will be hard:
In most of the developing countries, the trend followed by the students for studying abroad will mostly be

*Get an education loan to pay the tuition fee of their respective colleges.

*While studying in abroad, try to get a part-time job to cover the loan amount
as much as possible.

*Try to get a job within your visa period.

*Work in the country as long as the loan is in due.

*Pursuing a master’s degree in that country and try to settle your life.

But due to these changing circumstances, with a decrease in the number of on-campus international students, students from the developing countries will not be able to afford the tuition fee for an online master’s degree with no source of income.

Higher education in abroad will not be as good as it was:
The main reason most of the students apply to these universities
*To be able to get the experience of studying on campus

*For real-time collaboration with the professors working in those universities.

But paying these huge amounts of tuition fees for an online program will not give the same exposure to students as it was an on-campus program.

You may have to learn the course twice:
This will be a problem for the students who are currently pursuing their degrees abroad. Due to these recent conditions, there will be no real-time classes for at least a year.

The curriculum which you are currently studying was drafted for the real class interaction periods. But due to the practical difficulties, the curriculum needs to be changed for an online via teaching.

So the courses need to be taught from a different perspective for online teaching. This may lead to do a rerun on previously completed courses to continue with future studies.

Students who are studying in their own country:

If you are planning to pursue your higher education in your own country, Here are some of the effects you can probably expect in the following years

More competition for the same institution:
Since the number of students who are studying in the abroad universities will reduce considerably, there will be more competition for getting admission in the top universities.

Inequity in the admission and employment opportunities:

This is a rising problem and with the new National Educational Policy (NEP) it will be a major concern in India.

Admission:
According to NEP, there will be a common entrance exam throughout the country for getting admission to every university for every course.

Some of the major concerns in this method are

*Huge difference in teaching standards across the country.

* Students studying in villages and towns having less exposure and less access to knowledge due to no internet connection which makes it hard for them to compete with the students who are having a stable internet connection and easily accessible online instructors.

The common entrance exam will reduce the number of students from towns and villages getting admission to higher education considerably.

Employment:
The new National Educational Policy (NEP) also developing an autonomous body called National Educational Technology Forum(NETF).

The function of NETF will be
*It will maintain a regular inflow of data from multiple educational technology innovators and practitioners to remain relevant in the fast-changing field.

*It also provides additional resources and Softwares to the students apart from the curriculum to stay relevant in the fast-growing world.

Now, this may seem like a good plan, but it mostly benefits the students who are having good exposure and stable internet connection.

With half of India not having a stable internet connection, it will create a gap between education and the industry for the students who are not able to afford the internet connection.

So, with the new educational policy, companies expect more skills from the students than what they have expected before. This will create a huge impact on the employment rate of underprivileged students.

What will happen to your primary or secondary education??.

If you have a brother or sister who is currently studying primary or secondary education these are some of the effects you can expect in the following years.

K-12 education is evolving at a faster pace than any other period in recent history. Throughout the world, these are the emerging trends of online teaching in K-12 education.

Digital Responsibility:
Parents want schools to help students to have healthy relationships with technology and to be safe and to be safe and confident explorers of the digital world.

What’s Driving it?
Children are online at a younger age than ever before. These conditions have created a desire to help students develop a healthy, responsible relationship with technology.

Student-led Learning:
There is a desire to give students more agency over their education, from what they learn to how the classroom operates.

What’s Driving it?
With increasing recognition of the importance of transitioning students from school to the outside world. student autonomy becomes a key area of focus.

Emerging Technologies:
Schools are incorporating emerging technologies into the classrooms to create more innovative and engaging teaching methods.

What’s Driving it?
People are increasingly recognizing how tech can be used in the classroom to create exciting, engaging experiences. By 2024 15% of schools in India are predicted to have a VR Class kit.

K-12 scenario in India:
The new National Educational Policy will play a greater role in primary or secondary education also.

The traditional method of 10+2 system will be replaced by a new system of 2+3+3+4 covering the ages of 6–18.

According to this system,
*The final 4 is called Secondary education which comprises of the students from Class 9 to 12.
*The students will have to decide their area of interest before entering their secondary education and experiential learning will be given based on their decision.

The experiential learning will be given to the students by collaborating with the appropriate industry and the skills will be taught by the instructors working in the industry via online teaching method.

So, in addition to the teachers, online teaching instructors also play a major role in shaping your carrier. This will change the perspective in which the knowledge was acquired by the students.

Conclusion:
*
Online teaching for higher education is going to redefine the perspective of the students who want to do their degree abroad. It increases competition for the local colleges and in India, it will cause a huge inequity in admission and employment due to the new National Educational Policy.

*Online teaching for primary and secondary education will redefine student’s knowledge and make them relatable to the current technological trends.

Whether we like it or not, Online teaching is going to be the future of our education and it will be a wise decision to adopt to the changing needs as soon as possible.
