Our school as a champion of the development of multiple intelligences and the diversely-gifted, is in itself an innovation to the educational system. And to push the envelope further, we are extending innovation to include not just through inclusive education, but also through creating projects and organizing activities that enable more people — students and professionals from Benilde and beyond to do the same.

The July 4 Town Hall Assembly put the spotlight on Innovation for Inclusion. Br. Dennis Magbanua FSC talked about the history of inclusion in Benilde and the La Salle system, the different efforts the school had done through the years, and the next steps towards this key thrust. Benilde’s Homebrewed Program projects: Art Locale, Kamulo.ph, Sohan, BLink and Beyond Wayfinding; and the collaborative project between Benilde HiFi and Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS): FSL Buddy App was officially launched.

The different projects that were launched are now in their prototyping stages and are on their way to operating full-time in service of spreading the word and service of inclusivity. Benilde HiFi on the other hand continues to hold training programs for students, faculty and professionals on social innovation tools like Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design and social entrepreneurship; and is open to producing customized programs for organizations.
