HiFi, School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT), and Benilde Central Student Government recently held a design thinking workshop dubbed Thinkathon: The Idea That Lived. The two-way workshop which was organized by TI001 Project Management Class, was held at the SDA from November 18–19, 2016.

Forty students mostly from SDA and SMIT joined forces to come up with ideas to tackle UN SDG #13 with the “Benildean Innovations for Disaster Resilience.” Thinkathon will be a precursor to the yearly SMIT Hackathon 2017 and potential incubation from HIFI. More importantly, there is talk of doing this exercise every term so that really excites us!

Students learned about the important values of empathy, collaboration and critical thinking to solve problems and challenges as a team. Team Gryffindor got the most nods from judges Jag Garcia, Abi Mapua-Cabanilla, Mark Meily and Jay Jaboneta with their Public Utility Vehicle Information warning system.
