I sigh, throw the covers off, and sit up.

Normally, this means my body woke me up to answer nature’s call. But tonight is different. Tonight is one of those nights.

Tonight… is a writing night.

Creativity, fortunately and unfortunately, knows no bounds.

On the fortunate side of things, boundless creativity is a storyteller’s paradise. The blank page is not only blank — it’s infinite. You can write anything you want. Anything. Ain’t that something?

On the unfortunate side of things, boundless creativity doesn’t always adhere to bodily needs. And why should it? It’s an abstract concept; it has no notion of food, water, or rest.

Well, the night I spoke of above exemplified that. I went to bed at midnight. Tossed and turned awhile — not because of Things on My Mind™, but because I felt a story nipping at my cranium. Tugging at my heartstrings. Pulling me out of bed.

So… what could I do but be pulled?

It’s a pretty uncommon scenario. Much more often than not, I write at some point during the day and sleep soundly when the time comes. But…
