Medium is an excellent tool to host your design blog on. If you’re new to the platform you may find it limiting, but I wanted to point out the ways you could push the envelope and create a truly engaging post. Thanks to the site’s ability to host gifs and scale images to take up the entire width of the browser, you can come up with some really cool stuff! For example you could use titles as section dividers. Since you can’t change fonts, an easy workaround is to create PNGs. If you want to add a little more flare you can even animate them and upload a GIF.

If you do choose to animate your titles try to keep them simple. A more aggressive animation could be overwhelming and take away from your content. For this example post I chose to animate the section numbers. If you wanted to showcase a more impressive animation I would suggest adding it as a fixed width image inside of your content. Breaking up the text like this will also create a nice flow for your article.

You can use GIFs embedded into the text to bring extra info to the article or just for fun!

Often times on other Medium accounts I have seen people sign off with a logo or emblem at the very bottom of their posts. I found this to be a great way to put a ribbon on your article. It also is another fun opportunity to incorporate animation.

I hope you found these tips helpful and I look forward to seeing some innovative ways to use Medium in the community!
