As the holidays quickly approach, some of the BentoBox design team wanted to take some time to celebrate some of our favorite customer brands. What better way to get into the festive spirit and have some fun than gifts — specifically wrapped gifts, with customer-branded wrapping paper? Each designer has chosen one brand to celebrate and designed a wrapping paper texture along with a mockup of what their design would look like on a wrapped gift. Check ’em out below!

BAR PASQUALE

Bar Pasquale, a long-time favorite of the BentoBox Design Team, is a Sicilian-inspired neighborhood Italian concept located in the NoLita/Little Italy area of Lower Manhattan. They have a very colorful brand identity with lots of patterns and graphics. I noticed the coasters in the image used on their site — the checkered pattern stood out to me as the perfect design for wrapping paper from both a style and functional perspective. The checkerboard pattern made creating a seamless texture simple, in addition to being easy to cut, measure and match the pattern when you wrap. Pair it with some dark green ribbon and you have the perfect Bar Pasquale branded present!

KITTY’S HUDSON

Kitty’s Restaurant and Bar is the Hudson Valley dinner party that everyone is invited to, and I was lucky to be the one designing their website. I wish I could have an excuse to look at cats’ drawings as part of my job every day! Kitty’s immediately came into my mind when picking a restaurant for this exercise. Who doesn’t want to open a present full of funky cats on the wrapping paper? My goal was to match the look and feel of the restaurant and website, which is fun but also clean and simple. I used their squiggly lines as a pattern and incorporated a few cats between them for a classic-looking but fun wrapping paper.

GINGERLINE

Gingerline is a coastal South American-inspired eatery in the Historic District of Charleston, South Carolina. I initially wanted to go all in with their purple crosshatch pattern, but after looking through their interior photos and Instagram feed they really lean into bright yellow, with minimal purple accents. I edited their blue texture to yellow and added small touches of purple with the inky, script-style text and a purple bow to tie it all together!

CONDESA

Condesa is a bright and lively Mexican food concept based in Philadelphia. They pride themselves in their traditions and techniques that derive from their roots in Mexico. Condesa’s traditional patterns and fun logo made them an easy choice! I opted to go for a classically “Christmas” color scheme with red versions of their borders and rabbits on a dark pine-colored background. It only felt natural to create a repeating pattern here.
