Welcome to the first StEP Startup Highlight!

This week we’ll be highlighting Smile Standard, a platform designed to bring transparency and equality in the dental field.

Category: Healthcare

Smile Standard was founded by Amin Samadian, a dentist in the Bay Area who has been developing his product for the past 4 years. You can find more information on Amin at https://samadiandds.com/. He finished his EWMBA at Haas Business School in 2019 but left graduate school still wanting to be more involved in Berkeley Entrepreneurship Association (BEA) and StEP.

Smile Standard launched its beta product in Samadian’s own dental office with a 2000+ customer base. Samadian has been bootstrapping Smile Standard to develop his MVP. This dental platform gives patients access to their electronic dental records so they can access it anywhere, anytime. It also gives the patient a comprehensive breakdown of their insurance coverage, ensuring that each individual has full awareness and control of how much they are paying and how much their insurance covers. The platform offers quality control and peer reviews for the patient’s treatment and makes sure that each user is going to the best dentist in their area. The Smile Standard team is currently developing the product and plans to use the community of dentists and patients as feedback to push the startup through.

Samadian was asked how StEP has helped him and his team throughout the process. He responded saying that StEP has given him “structure and momentum”.
