This week…

…the cohort heard from Haas alumnus and Agentero’s Head of Growth Ido Deutsch. Then, they broke out into their coaching groups to workshop their progress thus far. Currently, most teams are fine-tuning the wire frames of their product, tweaking their MVP based on customer feedback. Santiago Freyria, StEP coach and Director, expressed, “It is very exciting to watch the teams grow invested in each others’ companies. Since our next meeting won’t be for another three weeks, they were especially engaged in giving each other valuable input to move forward with during the break.” 👣

Spotlight on: Able

The startup spotlight this week is on Ilya Friedman’s, Able, a B2B product for health tech manufacturers that need software to accompany their hardware. Able will hit three birds with one stone: it will…

1) provide the software operating system for already-made hardwares, which will

2) build a forcible ecosystem of healthcare devices, helping

3) concentrate user engagement, so that companies can buy into Able confident that they will start out with a strong user base.

Currently, Friedman has completed Able’s MVP and beta version, and is undergoing the customer discovery process as he boosts both the number of direct consumers and partnerships with small health tech manufacturers. Towards the end our conversation, Friedman added that he got to chat one-on-one with guest speaker Ido Deutsch on Friday and received helpful advice on Able’s growth hacking. He looks forward to implementing these tips in his user feedback sessions!

Looking ahead 🔭

This week marked the last week of designing, building, testing, and revising MVPs in our curriculum, but the journey is far from over! Our coaches have been working on providing teams ample one-on-one attention, in order to give them the necessary guidance in this critical stage of the startup-building process. After spring break, teams will shift to exploring unit economics and identifying their go-to-market.

We are also planning our final Showcase that will take place early May. If you are a VC or investor interested in being a part of this event, please reach out to us at berkeleystep@berkeley.edu! 🏆
