Rosh Hashanah Dinner at Chabad / Berlin
No matter where in the world you go, you’ve always got a home at Chabad.
Rosh Hashanah festive meal… Chabad / Berlin
Last night, I went to Rosh Hashanah dinner at Chabad in Berlin.
The photo above does not do justice to the meal.
Of course, the Rabbi knew our Chabad Rabbis, Chaim Block and Yossi Marrus from San Antonio.
I sat at table with a bunch of Israelis.
Me: “…. I’m from San Antonio, but I live in Tel Aviv….”
Them: “Oh, how wonderful… how’s your Hebrew?”
Me: “I don’t speak a word of Hebrew. But I am fluent in Spanish….”
Them: “………………..” speechless thinking I am nuts or something.

In between courses, Rabbi Yehuda Tiechtel, asked various guests and local residents to share a few words. I was honored to share my feelings about being amongst family, no matter where in the world I may be.
Shana Tova in all languages…
I shared the story of how our son, Aaron, and I were once in San Jose, Costa Rica, and went to a Shabbat meal at the Chabad. Of course, they knew our Rabbis in San Antonio. And how our daughter, Lauren, went to Chabad summer day camp when she was just a little tike.
Finally, I expressed my gratitude in feeling welcomed, and knowing that somehow, somewhere, we are all connected to each other.
We’re one giant family with a mission to do good, and carry on.
