The Rachamankha Hotel — Perfect in every way

I am a luxury travel writer by trade, so I stay in a whole lot of luxury hotels. Sometimes, on a press trip, I may have to stay at a less than 5-Star establishment and I can never understand why a 3 or 4 star can get it so wrong. There are a few simple things that any hotel can do to up its game, to ensure the punters come back every time!

  1. Down pillows, or at least the option.

Do you like to sleep on a rock? I don’t, and I am sure that at least half of your guests don’t either. Not every pillow in the bedroom has to be down, but it would be nice to have a least one soft pillow among the two or three that are on the bed. If you can’t afford that, have a few around, so that I can call down and ask for one.

2. Big Towels, and more of them.

These towels don’t even have to be fluffy, it’s all about length. I want it to wrap around my body. I am not the biggest person in the world, but I really want my towel to be long enough to encompass every part of it, not just one leg. It really makes the difference, especially when you give us only one. On that note, a lot of women have long hair. Please, oh please — give us more than one long towel — one to stuff our hair in and one our body. I have had to use my hand towel and it never works out.

3. Bar Soap.

Invest in Bar Soap — so many of us grew up using soap and we don’t feel clean not washing with it. I am not really sure how to use bath gel to clean my private parts. Sign up with this wonderful charity, Global Soap Project. Not only will my hoohaa thank you, but the rest of the world will, as well.

4. Hair Conditioner.

As with bar soap, we ladies like some hair conditioner to go with our shampoo. We just can’t bring everything with us all the time, so while you’re placing an order for shampoo and bar soap, place one for conditioner as well. Recognizable brands for all amenities make me so happy — Occitane, Ren, Molton Brown — they will also help you up your game!

5. Real milk

Most lower than 5 star hotels have coffee & tea making facilities in the room. Why, oh why, do provide great tea choices, but only packets of non-daily creamer? I feel dirty just writing those two words! Or even that pre-packaged “half & halfs”. It might be ok in coffee (it isn’t), but in tea, it’s just disgusting. Why not have a little sign next to the electric kettle saying that fresh milk is available upon request? That way you only have to dole it out when people request it! (Nice teas are also appreciated — Twinings, Drury, York!”

These five simple things can help you step up your game and make your hotel so much more appealing! Let me know how it goes!

I hope you liked this! A few ❤ below would be much appreciated!
