We spoke with Paula Rimer of Crepini, a crepe manufacturer and distributor and certified B Corporation based in Brooklyn, about the company’s mission and plans for the future.

What Matters Most to Us

“Passion is the foundation necessary for revenue, profit and growth. A company cannot thrive without a leader’s passion, because the strongest competitors possess an ardent love for their business and the industry in which they operate.”

What We Learned

“Crepini can only continue to exist if the employees, partners, clients, consumers, and vendors are satisfied. We learned that management must set the stage for Crepini to grow, and therefore create an environment and culture in which every employee has a voice and every vendor and partners as well as client are an integral part of the team.”

What We Did As a Result

“We are focused on mentoring, training, and continuously improving the company as a whole. Our Open Door Policy exists for this purpose. Hiring the right people and keeping them is the key to our success. A business can only be as strong as its weakest link.

I am also dedicated to the communities we serve and am on the board of the Diversity Council of the Specialty Food Association serving as a member of the Mentorship Task Force and participate as a member of the Board of Directors of ITAC NYC, an organization focused on helping NYC manufacturers to thrive.

In addition, as a company, we are a Certified B Corp (Benefit Corporation), a certified M/WBE (Woman-owned Business Enterprise), and a member of the School Nutrition Association and Northeast Charter Schools Network. We also are part of the Made in NYC and Pride of NY network, a member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and of the Specialty Food Association.”

Features/Improvements we are looking forward to

“There is something that is much more scarce, something finer far, something rarer than ability. It is the ability to recognize ability.” –Elbert Hubbard

“We are looking forward to rotation-based employment — a challenging program in which every employee has an opportunity to innovate, engineer, produce, negotiate and perform outstanding customer service with the goal of making each product safer and tastier, each customer a repeat customer, and each partner proud of the products and of the people who produce and sell these products.”
