We had a short, but rejuvenating stay in San Diego. Close relatives of my wife let us stay at their house (with pool) while they were travelling in Europe. The two days spent there allowed us to recharge a bit, get a bit of swimming in, and of course visit the San Diego Zoo.

As far as eating is concerned, San Diego has some wonderful options. From a post-church Sunday brunch in La Jolla to a poolside cookout, we were well-supped and feeling ready to set out on our journey back East.

Another thing that San Diego has in spades is fantastic, world-class beer. Our far-and-away fave, Ballast Point, can be found in most stores and is made nearby. Celebrating 20 years in 2016, they offer a vast array of brews worthy of attention.

Ballast Point Sculpin is one of my favorites; you won’t be disappointed.
