Jason & Travis: Unconventional campaigning
Meet Jason & Travis, two travel buffs who’ve donated a % of proceeds from their travel guide — how to live and travel abroad with a slim wallet — to PoP.
Travis Sherry and Jason Moore aren’t your typical travel buffs. The two economic travel virtuosos have cultivated the ability to live and travel internationally with a slim wallet — a sought-after talent these days. Travis took to traveling after his first international experience working in Switzerland and then Japan. Falling in love with the nomadic lifestyle, Travis transformed his career to allow him to maintain an income while living on the road.
Similarly, when Jason finished college he had a pocket of debt but a lust for travel. In order to get on the road, he took a job as a travel tour manager, traveling cheaply on his days off. He eventually amassed a following of travel advice seekers large enough that he could support himself through writing and broadcasting travel advice from wherever he was in the world.
After separately finding their calling in international travel, Travis and Jason met at a conference in Portland Oregon. United by their mutual passion for adventure, the two maintained contact.
Both Travis and Jason heard about PoP through the podcast circuit and Jason even completed a hitchhiking race around Scotland to support PoP.
The two began working together back in March 2013 when Jason called Travis about creating a travel guide called the Paradise Pack. The Pack put together their best contacts and travel tips in order to help guide others in living a life of unconventional adventure. They launched an exclusive 1-week promotion, which was a huge success, and donated 10% of all sales to PoP.
Travis and Jason loved how 100% of their campaign was invested directly into PoP’s education programs and both plan to continue supporting the organization. Their next big venture, Location Indie, will be a monthly membership resource for location-independent individuals to learn lifestyle strategies, build community and connect with one another. Their plan is for 10% of all membership sales to fund schools through PoP.
It’s clear that the lifestyle of these PoP campaigners has made an impact on those around them. We asked Travis and Jason if they had any advice for new adventure seekers. Jason’s mantra: “If not now, then when?” and Travis’s: “Do one thing every day that scares you.”
We’re excited to see where these campaigners go next and are seriously impressed by their innovative means to continue supporting PoP!
