During the spring of 2021, I was living by myself and doing my bachelor’s project at Design School Kolding under complete lockdown. So when the time came to finally move into the IBT crib in Århus, I was thrilled. I had missed meeting new people and being in an international environment.

Visiting the Campus in Brande (Christina, Teresa and me) + Kaylee and I at a VILA Party this weekend

After a month with everyone I feel I am living with my new friends. Everyone is welcoming and as soon as you run into someone or there is something happening, you are being invited in, through the group chat or IRL “Come join us!”— if it’s dinner, football, reality TV or a trip to the harbour for a swim after work. By the way: We are also very lucky, 3 people has already been shat on by birds.

Trip to Aros with Elena (also my roomie) and my friend from Horsens

I am one of the four Danes on the programme, and therefore I quickly feel at home in Aarhus, where I have family and I have visited the city many times. I am from Horsens, which is quite close. It has meant a lot to me, that everyone has been so open, since I have also had to take some days away to finish my bachelor, seeing my family or celebrate my graduation with my old classmates from Design School Kolding.

At the moment I feel very busy, there is always something to do, attend or something you could miss — both at work and at home. Still I bet that it is something I will look forward to again, after my summer break is over. Whoever you are, I hope you will feel as welcome as me and I hope you will join us on this ride for the next two years.
