Working as an IBT in design
Hello there!
My last blogpost was mostly about the IBT social life and myself. We are still getting to know each other better and we become closer every day, which I love. We even arranged a trip to Copenhagen for ourselves, which you might have read about.
This time though, I thought I would give you a glimpse of my daily work for VILA as an IBT in design.
The VILA office is placed in Stilling, which is 15 km south from Aarhus where I live with the other IBT’s. Every morning me and Kaylee (the other IBT at VILA) carpool together with our colleague, who lives close by our place.
We are in the office around 8.15
I work closely with my coach Cecilie, who is the designer for the product group “Light wowen”. That means garments made by a light-weight fabric: Dresses, shirts, tops, skirts etc. This is the product group I work with.
At the beginning of the day I go through my emails. Usually I will find several tasks there. It could be regarding samples, colours, print, design details and so on.
Currently we are doing fittings for our Pre-Autumn 22 collection. This is really exciting, because I get to see my CAD drawings come to live in the samples and be worn by the fitting model. Even though it might take adjustments, before we have the finished sample that can be sold in the store.
At VILA we are also doing several fittings virtually with 3D sketches. I find this a great way to develop a design idea. This way the supplier doesn’t have to spend time sewing the physical sample before we are content with the look.
I also create own designs for the new collections during the day. Cecilie will give me feedback on the designs, which is very valuable. We are working on multiple collections at once, and which means we are in different steps of the design proces at the same time. This makes each day quite different and exciting.
Lots of love,
Viola
