Isolated between the walls of her University of Iowa dorm, freshman Caroline Blomberg sat at the edge of her bed. Broken. Hopeless.

“If this is where I need to be, so be it. But I know nothing good is going to happen here,” she prayed.

Immersed in a lifestyle of partying and carelessness, Blomberg needed an escape.

Spring semester brought a new home for Blomberg.

Blomberg transferred to Bethel University hoping to develop a relationship with Christ and grow her faith.

“It was hard to find friends after fall semester when everybody had them,” Blomberg said. “But I love the environment (at Bethel) and the authentic conversations.”

While finding a new group of friends brought challenges, Blomberg became comfortable within the Bethel community.

The worshiping at Vespers and the enlightening during chapel became the catalyst in her faith journey.

However, being comfortable doesn’t fit her personality. Having left the enormous Iowa campus to bursting into the Bethel bubble, Blomberg seeks another major step in her faith journey.

“I feel as coming to Bethel was a major step. I’m ready for the next challenge,” Blomberg said.

While attending River Valley, the free spirit within Blomberg found her calling. The pastor spoke about missionary trips through Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and becoming the hands and feet of God.

“God has given me life when I deserved none. For that, I give Him my life.” — Caroline Blomberg, sophomore

October marks the beginning of her new journey. Blomberg will travel with YWAM, spending 6 months in Belize. During her stay, she will do missional work She wants to learn to be courageous and spread her love for God to those less fortunate.

“God has given me life when I deserved none. For that, I give Him my life,” she said.
