The subject has been shot and apprehended. The moment is so exhilarating that no one else was around to see it happen. There is only one eyewitness and he will remain silent. He leaves the scene and arrives to his obscurely dark, happy place. After a while, the subject is suspended and appreciated on the wall.

Bethel University junior and photographer Andrew Hed had just photographed an indescribable sunrise.

Hed first discovered his passion when he was 13. He loved making videos on YouTube. His first video taught people how to start a fire with magnesium and it has reached 200,000 views.

When Hed isn’t fulfilling his obligations as a college student, he spends time running two of his own photography businesses. His first business he co-owns with his roommates, it’s called Forward Films, together they shoot wedding videos. His second business hits a little closer to home. Hed shoots videos for his family’s business called Hed Cycling.

Located in Roseville Minnesota, Hed’s father, Steve Hed, who died a year ago, founded the company in the 1980s. The company has been around for 30 years and has sponsored Lance Armstrong multiple times in the Tour De France.

“It’s one thing to capture beautiful moments of life with your camera, but it’s also amazing to experience them without the camera.” — Andrew Hed, photographer

Hed uses his skills to shoot promotional videos on the products and tutorial videos for bike maintenance. He handles over five social media accounts for this job and loves every second of it.

“It’s one thing to capture beautiful moments of life with your camera, but it’s also amazing to experience them without the camera,” explains Hed.

Living life to the fullest, Hed loves to compete in triathlons and sailing expeditions.

Oldest of two siblings, Hed would like take over the family business after his mom steps down even if it means having to fill his father’s big shoes.
