After a long day, a group of Minnesota college students mingle in the home of one of their fellow group mates, after a ministry conference in Ames, IA on Feb. 22. The conference, called the Salt Conference, welcomed 150 students from Minnesota, and 3,000 others from around the nation, in Des Moines to listen to speakers and participate in group worship.

A few of the small group members laugh as they recount their day in the home of Annalissa Eller on Feb 23. Prior to the conference, the girls had not really had much of a chance to interact, with some being from the University of Minnesota and others from Bethel. Over the course of the weekend, they were able to get to know each other a bit more.
Jaydn Nelson, a sophomore at Bethel University, leaves the group for a minute to play with Cash and Dale, the two massive German Shepherds of the Eller household. The dogs are 100 pounds each and have no problem greeting strangers with a multitude of face licks. Luckily, they didn’t bother Jaydn. “It’s no problem. I love dogs,” Nelson said. “I wish mine would love me as much as these two do.”
Jaydn Nelson and Mary Board watch as the two dogs jump onto their friends lap and attack her with kisses. Both were shocked to see how unreserved the dogs were in expressing their excitement to have guests.
Margaret Wiesum, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, grabs her face after the the overly excited German Shepherd Dale jumps on her lap and repeatedly licks her face. Wiesum was not warned that she would be sharing residence with the two dogs for the weekend. Wiesum describes herself as “more of a cat person.”
