Staff Report

Bethel University beginning photojournalists spent Feb. 9 and 12 documenting a few of the last games of the men’s and women’s regular seasons in the MIAC at the Robertson Center Gym before playoffs began.

Star Tribune photographer Jerry Holt walked students through the theory and technical aspects of recording moments from St. Scholastica’s 69–67 upset of Bethel Feb. 9. The game featured a last-second game-winning shot, two key missed free throws before that and a 20-minute second-half power outage before that.

The Star Tribune’s Mark Van Cleave then showed spent a Saturday afternoon helping students photograph a double-header sweep of Macalester College, an 80–48 win for the Royals women and a 60–59 comeback win for the Royals men.
