When stony, seemingly heartless book editor Margaret Tate (Bullock) discovers her visa is about to expire, she coerces her lovable assistant Andrew Paxton (Reynolds) into accepting the ultimate proposal: a shotgun wedding in exchange for his long-awaited promotion. As the unlikely pair attempt to sell their fraudulent relationship to Andrew’s family and a skeptical immigration officer, Margaret will do anything to avoid deportation – even if that means putting up with a pushy exotic male dancer and chanting “Get Low” with Andrew’s quirky grandmother in the Alaskan wilderness. If you’re looking for a feel-good Friday night movie suitable for any crowd, The Proposal’s familiar cast of characters won’t leave you disappointed.
