The sixth time’s the charm
Finals week woes.

All semester had built up to this one hour sitting on a couch in Columbia Heights. Seemingly ready to start summer break, I found myself frantically searching for a Wi-Fi code in the basement of the house where I was babysitting. Professor Jessica Samens delivered a crushing blow to my early celebration — I was missing a final draft of an assignment pivotal to my completion of Perspectives on Human Communication.
APA style was a large aspect of what I learned throughout the semester in that class. Ferociously typing away at the many fixes Samens had highlighted, my window of hope was closing in 16 minutes. Once I finally locked down a solid internet connection siphoned from a neighbor’s unlocked system, it was off to the races. My fingers flew across my black, unlit Dell keyboard at a speed I hadn’t unlocked prior to this moment. Emails for help back and forth, side to side, were flung in every direction to a friend in class and Samens.
With relief, I sent the sixth edition of the assignment in hopes it would be my last. My last APA assignment. With 5 minutes to spare, I took a breath and enjoyed summer break.
