Pelicans at Knicks: Spread the Love
Well damn! I’ve never thought of myself as an expert nor a particularly good NBA bettor but now that I’ve hit FOUR straight Knicks games, I might need to reconsider this thought. New York followed through with my doubts and although they led late into the 4th quarter, eventually fell at home to the Timberwolves. After a day of rest the Knicks are back on the court against the Pelicans and I’m pretty confident that I’ll continue my streak tonight.
New Orleans has yet to see Zion return and continues to struggle having lost 5 consecutive road games by an average of 12 points and are currently 16–28 on the year. They have also lost 3 straight to New York with all being by 6+ points dating back to last season. Worse for the Pelicans is that they’re a bottom 10 defense allowing 110.1 pts/gm (21st) and one of the league’s lowest scoring teams at 105.5 pts/gm (24th). My Knickerbockers may struggle to find consistency on offense scoring just 104.3/gm (27th) but are 5th in defense giving up just 104.6/gm. They have also held 9 of their last 13 opponents to under 100 with just 3 eclipsing the 105 mark. All these numbers and on-court performance have played out on the court with the Pelicans struggling to cover as road dogs, doing so just three times over their last 10 with the Knicks going 7–3 ATS at home over their last 10. Needless to say, all signs, stats, and observations lead me to be fully comfortable laying the points with the Knicks tonight -4 but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to get a more advantageous number.
