The Best 20 Resources for Beginner Amazon Sellers
You know that consumers head over to Amazon when they want to find, research or buy products. And if you’re thinking that you want to be an Amazon seller and get a piece of the pie, you’re definitely not alone. But you will need some help. That’s where these 20 resources come in handy. Dive in so you can start selling.
1. Alibaba
If you’re on the hunt for a product manufacturer or supplier, you want to visit Alibaba. Search for a product to see the different suppliers who are offering it, then get in touch with them for an estimate.
2. AliExpress
AliExpress is from the same team behind Alibaba, but it’s best for sellers who’re interested in small-quantity purchases. Here, you can order super-small quantities, even as low as just one if you want to test out a product. (In contrast, Alibaba suppliers typically require orders of 1,000 or more.)
This super-popular course for Amazon sellers has nine learning modules, plus a built-in community, mentorship with experts, video training, profit calculators and more. It costs quite a bit — around $5,000 or more — but “promises” that you’ll make a seven-figure income from Amazon in return.
If you’re interested in retail arbitrage instead of selling your own products, Amazon Boot Camp is for you. Retail arbitrage is when you purchase products for a low price and then resell them on Amazon to make a profit.
Here’s another resource that’s meant for Amazon sellers interested in retail arbitrage. With the Profit Bandit app, you can scan a product in-store and find data that will help you determine if reselling it on Amazon is worthwhile.
Amazon itself has a fantastic resource in its Seller University. You’ll be able to access the University articles once you’re logged into your account. They’re especially helpful for learning Amazon’s guidelines, regulations and terms of agreement — which you need to follow to a “T” so as not to have your seller account shut down.
7. AMZ Tracker
AMZ Tracker will track your Amazon search ranking for target keywords, and it will also help you optimize your listings. Plus, it lets you dig into competitor listings to determine what they’re doing wrong — so you can do it right in your listings.
If you need to research Amazon products, try Camel Camel Camel. You can input a product and view its price and sales rank histories. Check out your competitors or analyze products you’re considering selling.
Use the FBA Revenue Calculator from Amazon to figure out how much profit you can make from a certain product. You’ll get a breakdown of Amazon’s fees that you’ll be charged if you opt to use FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon, which takes care of inventory management, order fulfillment and shipping, and returns).
P.S. You’ll need an Amazon seller account to access this.
10. FeedbackExpress
With this tool, you can automate follow-ups with customers. One of its best features is the ability to send auto-messages when someone leaves positive feedback. You can say “thank you” to the customer and encourage them to leave a product review (which will go toward improving your search ranking).
11. MerchantWords
This tool is the tool for performing Amazon SEO research. Enter any keyword to see the estimated search volume on Amazon. You’ll also get a list of related keywords with estimated search volumes. You can then take all of this information and decide which keywords to use in your titles and listings.
12. SellerLabs
The SellerLabs bundle includes four useful tools:
- Feedback Genius: Send automatic follow-up messages to buyers.
- Ignite: Manage Amazon Sponsored Products PPC ads.
- Scope: Find the keywords that’ll get your products more exposure.
- Your Data: Manage your inventory and run reports.
13. Splitly
Split-testing is an excellent way to determine what does and does not work in your Amazon listings. By having two almost-exact listings with one element different — like photos, title or SEO — you can figure out which version works better. Splitly lets you test different elements of your listing, then gives you data you can use to determine which elements get the best results.
14. Amazon Seller Resources and Tools
This blog covers everything from Amazon news for sellers to resource roundups to strategies for making the most of your shop. Plus, the blog is run by Skip McGrath, who’s considered an industry expert.
15. Full-Time FBA
The Full-Time FBA blog will help you create a full-time Amazon selling business while working a part-time schedule. On top of regular blog posts with actionable tips and strategies for selling on Amazon, the site also offers a free e-book (with newsletter signup) and courses for sellers at all different levels.
This podcast is about business and entrepreneurship in general, so it’s a great all-around listen if you’re any type of seller. There are also Amazon-specific episodes that cover topics like wholesale, FBA and marketing.
17–20. Facebook Groups
These four Facebook Groups are currently active (as of March 2021) and all focus on Amazon selling techniques.
Don’t spread yourself too thin when it comes to Facebook Groups — you don’t want to spend so much time there that it becomes time wasted. However, if you find one or two that you like, Groups are great places to connect with other sellers. You can ask and answer questions, get inspired by ideas and find out news and strategies you’re not familiar with yet.
