If you are wanting to increase your income then a side hustle is most likely right for you. Most of the time a side hustle doesn't involve you starting your own business but rather creating content or working for another website. This means that you won’t have to start from scratch and the site that you work for can do all the marketing for you! Here are the top 5 online side hustles anyone can start in 2020!

1. Instagram Theme Pages

Instagram is the second-largest social media platform with over 1 billion monthly active users. You can take a slice of this and create an Instagram account surrounding one topic that you can grow an audience with.

You can choose a niche (topic) that you want so it can be literally anything. You could do something like fishing, basketball, business or anything else that you want. Every day you should post at least twice about your niche, you will start to grow an audience that you can start to make money with. I recently wrote an article about how to make money from Instagram here!

Once you have a large audience (5,000 followers or above) you can start to make a decent amount of money or even sell the page. If you create more than one page that you can start to really make a decent side income. Pages can sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars, and it doesn't even take that much time.

You can use software to schedule your images to upload across your accounts so that you only have to spend a few hours on your account a week. If you are working part-time or not at all then this can quickly become a large source of income that you help you a lot in the future!

I started creating Instagram theme pages around a year ago and I have to say, this has made me a lot of money. Because of the way that Instagram works, it is really easy to grow so I managed to get one of my pages to 1k followers in under a month. I later sold that page for over $150 and I have 8 pages at that time.

2. Print On Demand

Print on demand (POD) is where you create designs and sell them to customers. When you sell an item, an order will be placed with the supplier and they will print, package and post your item without you having to do anything. This can be a really great source of income if done right because it has a low cost to start and can become a passive income source!

If you are interested in this then I would recommend a site called RedBubble because it is free and they do marketing for you. You upload a design and then they put it on all their products and when one sells they do everything! Once a design has been uploaded you never have to do anything with it and it will become a source of passive income.

Unless you are a graphic designer or artist, then you will need to find another way to create designs. You can high someone for a really cheap price on Fiverr so that you have to do even less work and still make a large amount of profit. If you pay a $3 for a design, that could later make your thousands of dollars in return and you have done almost nothing.

I have been doing print on demand for a while now and I have made over $1000 in the last month (revenue) and I did no work at all. This is probably one of the best side hustles you can do if you don’t want to do much work but it won’t make the most amount of money. Some of the other side hustles will make you more money but if you would like to learn more about pod then click here!

3. Freelancing

Freelancing is probably the most fun and most profitable side hustle that you can get. Freelancing is when you offer your services like logo design or business planning to people who need these jobs done. You can easily secure large deals with high-end clients that will easily create you a part-time income or even become a full-time income!

The 2 places I recommend for beginner freelancers are Fiverr and UpWork because they are easy to get started and will help you get your first sales. You can list your services for free and as long as you set up your profile properly and you have useful skills, you can start making money freelancing.

Another great way to get sales with freelancing is to go directly to businesses and find there weak points like if they have a bad website. If you can then do web design then you can help then fix their website. If you can pitch your service to a business well then you can make a lot of money because they will pay a lot of money to improve their business.

I used to do a lot of freelancing but I have since stopped because it takes a lot of time and I prefer a passive income. However, if you have the time and you want to make a great side income that could become life-changing. If you have an in-demand skill that you enjoy doing then you can make a lot of money doing something you love!

4. Create YouTube Videos

I was really debating if I should put this one in here because I haven't ever done this and so many people give the same advice. YouTube is a large video sharing platform that has a large earning potential and you can start with just your phone.

You can use the inbuilt camera in your phone to record your first videos until you get 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to get monetised. This will however take a long time and you need to be consistent. This can be difficult to do and you will have a lot of barriers to overcome. You need to always be able to come up with content ideas and be able to create and edit videos consistently.

I don’t really recommend this side hustle as there are many competitors on YouTube that will make it very difficult to grow at all. There are many other ways that you could spend that time and make more money from it, other opportunities will create a better income source that you will enjoy more.

However, if you are into creating videos and have something interesting to then you can turn this into a profitable side hustle. YouTube does need a lot of dedication but if you really enjoy that kind of thing then you can probably make this work for you!

5. Become A Teacher

When I say this I don't mean going to college and learning a lot to stuff to become a teacher for kids. What I mean is to become more of a tutor or teach something that they don't teach in school. I have taught students how to play the piano before and people will happily pay more for it. If you have any skill that you can teach, you can make money from it.

You can set up your own website or go onto a tutoring market place that you can sell your skills on. I think that this can be great because people will pay a lot more and that you can do something that you enjoy. If you really want to make money with a skill that you have then you will love doing it and you will then make money doing something you love!

An even better way to make a passive income source is to create an online course like on SkillShare. This means that you can teach everything once and then make money from it again and again. Once it is on the site, they will market it and all you need to do is collect the money and the end of the month!

Conclusion

If you have some spare time that you would like to turn into cash then you have many options. No matter what you like doing you can turn it into a source of income that could be life-changing or let you go on an extra holiday each year!
