We are putting the final touches to our next tranche of Research and Development (R&D) funding under the Oxygen CoLab and we’re excited to now be able to give the world a heads up.

As a quick reminder, we have spent the last three years working with partners from around the world to accelerate global access to oxygen in low-resource-settings. One key pillar of this work has been our Product Innovation, working with key partners to lab test TPP-ready products and providing targeted and catalytic R&D funding to manufacturers. You can find out more about our Product Innovation work so far here.

We are now hoping to launch our second round of R&D funding in the coming weeks to build on the momentum of that first round. This second round will likely have a total fund of £550,000, which we would expect to divide between up to three successful tenderers.

The tender will be awarded to manufactures that can demonstrate the ability to have a product ready to meet the requirements of the UNICEF Request for Proposals for Oxygen Concentrators for low resource settings. We would only expect those that are likely to be able to meet the requirements to apply.

The first step for this funding is going to be launching a tender for interested organisations, this should go live in early August and we would expect to award contracts to selected tenderers latest mid-September.

The team is still dotting the Is and crossing the Ts, so the final tender may look slightly different when launched.

Please reach out to oxygen@makingbetterfutures.org if you have any questions, this page will be updated to have the ITT for the Tender once we are ready to launch 🚀
