It’s scary to make a big leap; it’s downright terrifying when you’ve jumped before and fallen painfully on your face.

I’ve made big leaps and fallen all the way down the cliff, crashing on the rock bottom floor. I hit rock bottom again, actually — I put everything I had into a new business idea and kind of lost everything.

I’m picking myself up off the ground, and looking at how far I fell.

It’s been tempting to think it was stupid, that dreaming is stupid. I’ve even started to wonder if having big goals is stupid, if making plans is stupid. I’m reminded of a scene in Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite, where the character Ki-Taek is trying to teach his son a life lesson:

You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan. No plan at all. You know why? Because life cannot be planned…You can’t go wrong with no plans. We don’t need to make a plan for anything. It doesn’t matter what will happen next.

It’s tempting to believe this when you failed at something you truly, truly believed in.
