In a fast- and constant-changing world, Emotional Intelligence is among the abilities necessary for generating above average results, quality of life and happiness. In the past, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) was considered as a quantitative estimation of one’s intelligence. Mathematical or logic tests were used to assess the cognitive abilities of individuals. Crossing certain thresholds would have categorized someone as a ‘phenomenon’ or a ‘genius’.
Nowadays, the concept of intelligence has radically changed. Exceptions apart, humans are all mainly born with the same intelligence. Having better cognitive abilities than others is only an indication of a more inclined attitude towards a specific subject being assessed.
What is Emotional Intelligence?
During the 90s, Dr. Daniel Goleman has published a few books on the concept of Emotional Intelligence. According to Dr. Goleman’s ideas, intelligence is not only the ability of cognitively handle and process information, but it is also about being able of effectively managing emotions.
