Sales is Dead. Long Live Sales
Why humans still matter in an AI world
Unless you’ve been living in a hobbithole for the past year, you know that sales and marketing are in the midst of a generational disruption. Thousands of companies are using AI to change how they sell their products and services.
The old way of doing sales and marketing is dead. All of the easy sales now happen online with chatbots and AI-generated content. There’s little need for expensive salespeople and copywriters when an AI large language model (LLM) can get you 80% of the way there at 10% of the cost of using humans.
The math is just too powerful for companies to ignore.
But sales and marketing are not dead. The people who are the best at communicating and creating value will continue to dominate sales and marketing.
The companies that will lead their industries for decades to come are not going to be the ones that rely almost exclusively on AI to make sales. AI is a powerful tool, but it’s not a shortcut.
The companies that will continue to lead their industries in terms of sales and revenue growth will be the ones that know how to center the customer in their marketing. It will be the companies that love to help customers solve complex problems.
