The 6 Best Podcasts on Influencer Marketing
Just like writers must read, podcasters must listen
I started my first podcast over seven years ago. I was using someone else’s old interview microphone, which miraculously would plug in my old laptop. I managed to figure out how to use Audacity for basic rough editing.
I even made the cover myself, using a photo my mum took of me in her bathroom, rendered in dubious black and white to hide the clear home feel. Needless to say, people loved it. I blame my bubbly personality for that. I know, I’m so humble, right?
That podcast had two more “lives”, both a few years apart. This is just to say: never say never. It may be back (hopefully, with a better cover).
Still, just like I believe reading is essential to get inspired about your own writing, listening to podcasts fuels your inspiration when being behind the microphone. This is why every single time I revived my podcast, I would go on a massive listening spree.
I love all kinds of podcasts. For general knowledge, interesting spotlights, and overall laughs, I love No such Thing as a Fish, for example.
Today, however, I want to focus on podcasts that specifically talk about influencers as well as influencer marketing and overall social media.
Here’s my golden list of the six best podcasts covering this topic.
1. Blogosphere Podcast
I personally know the team at Blogosphere from some past work we carried on together (yet, do not be fooled, I am not biased). This podcast is probably the one that is truly talking about influencer marketing above others. It features a whole roster of guests who run or work in various agencies, as well as influencers and less industry-based guests. Listen to it here.
2. Hashtag Authentic
This is not labeled as an influencer marketing podcast, but the host is a well-known Instagrammer, navigating various topics and heavily featuring the topic of influence and producing content online. Sara Tasker is a great host too, which, as we know, makes or breaks a podcast. Listen to it here.
3. The Influencer Podcast
This podcast by Julie Solomon may have a slightly misleading name. Influencers can see also as leaders and business owners, and not just what we consider “content creators”. Nevertheless, the podcast features a great variety of guests, as well as solo episodes. Recommended. Listen to it here.
4. TBP Talks
I would have not come across this podcast had I not been invited to be a guest in it. I am incredibly glad I did. Once again, there is far more variety in this podcast than others, yet creators are still the main guests. It’s a bit unpredictable in terms of frequency, which is the only downside. Listen to my episode here.
5. Influencer Business
This is clearly a podcast for influencers, by influencers. There’s nothing wrong with that — however, the podcast misses the bite and depth that the others on the list offer. I am adding it here due to its uniqueness in the proposition, rather than anything else. I still find it banks more on the “fame” of each guest, rather than having a clear narrative. Listen to it here.
6. LiketoKnowIt: Influencer Radio
The incredibly well-known affiliate platform Like to Know It launched its millennial-pink podcast with the aim of spotlighting mainly influencers. Most influencers are not within my field of interest, but I find that the interviews are very much applicable for most marketers and influencers alike. Not my favourite choice (but then, we all know I am a geek); however, I like to listen to selected episodes. Listen to it here.
I hope you find these podcasts insightful. I love mixing up episodes, podcasts, and topics — and I love learning about topics I am passionate about. I hope these recommendations help you do the same.
