WRIO is now Typewise Offline Keyboard
Some may have wondered whether they downloaded the right app when looking for the smartphone-optimized keyboard ready for the 21st century. There is “Typewise Custom Keyboard”, “Typewise Offline Keyboard”, “WRIO”, “Offline Privacy Keyboard”. Which is which? This short guide aims to explain the difference and show how to find the proper app for you!
A brief lesson in history
The smartphone-optimized keyboard formerly known as WRIO has been developed as a fully offline app to guarantee that no data is collected. This limited the number of features possible though, so we created a new Typewise app with online capabilities to enable future features. Users of the first hour however that purchased the lifetime license for WRIO, may now find that their PRO features are missing upon installing the Typewise app. Do not despair! This guide will show you how to restore your functions and enjoy typing fit for the 21st century!
WRIO = Typewise Offline = Typewise Offline Keyboard
Name changes can be confusing and at times unclear, which is why this is an excellent time to point out that “WRIO” became “Typewise PRO Lifetime” became “Offline Privacy Keyboard” and thus became “Typewise Offline Keyboard”. Compared with the conventional Typewise app, not only the keyboard is offline but also the app with the settings and the tutorial. If you purchased WRIO or Offline Privacy, this is the app you want to install to retain your previously purchased premium features.
The conventional Typewise keyboard also uses a text-prediction and autocorrection AI that works completely offline. Therefore, you can still be sure that no typing data will leave the device. But the keyboard will receive features that will require internet access, like GIF support. If you don’t like that, there’s still Offline Mode in the settings of conventional Typewise to turn off all online features. Typewsie Offline Keyboard on the other hand will always remain offline.
Finding Typewise in the App Store
When searching for Typewise in the App Store or Play Store, Typewise Custom Keyboard and Typewsie Offline Keyboard appear. We are currently working on better separating the two to avoid future confusion. For most users, Typewise is the way to go, as it can be tested for free and will get additional online features. If you purchased one of the forerunner versions of Typewise Offline Keyboard, or simply appreciate complete offline functionality, Typewsie Offline Keyboard is the app for you.
