If you want to be successful for the long-haul you need to be passionate about your work. You have to understand your motivation and really be clear about what drives you because if you’re not you will likely end up chasing after something that won’t make you happy once you capture it.

This happens often in the corporate world. Many executives are obsessed with increasing their professional status and rank. They forego sleep and chase after money only to get to the top of the corporate ladder and realize they’re exhausted and miserable.

To avoid that future mid-life crisis, you need to get clear on what really motivates you.

According to Hungarian psychologist and best selling author, Mihaly (pronounced mee-hi) Csikszentmihalyi (pronounced cheek-sent-mee-hie) the key to unlocking work happiness and fulfillment is a mind-state called Flow.

You know the feeling of getting lost in an experience? Some people find their flow when they’re writing, others find it rock-climbing, singing, analyzing data, swimming, reading- there are millions of different ways to find flow. The important force to find is what drives your flow state.
