Seconds

That’s all it takes

Just a few seconds

To help

To decide to help

or to abandon

without.

Gracious man

Busy and rushed

Bus driver.

Stopped

and waited

for a fellow human -

rushing, panting, chasing

a dream, a job, a sustenance…

and just about made it mid-way

to the door

the closed bus door.

When in those seconds

A mind, a heart changed….

into

doing unto others

became a loud action

in the cold morning stony silence

of a busy city.

A few seconds of a

heart that opened to another

Opened mine.

Do I have those few seconds now,

For another?
