It's 11 am(although you don't know what time it actually is), and the scorching sunlight seems oblivious to the fact that you trying to get some sleep. Your morning breath has gotten so bad that you’re actually considering finally pulling yourself out of bed.

When you've finally dragged your feet to the bathroom, you look in the mirror and realize that you look like you have a nest in your hair and you've just smelled something horrendous.

As you walk out of the bathroom and pick up your phone, you realize some things:

  1. You have about 20 missed calls from your friends.
  2. You forgot that you had a meeting with a client.
  3. You don't know whether to eat breakfast or skip to lunch.
  4. Your day seems completely messed up already, even though you just woke up
  5. Your feeling really lazy right now and wouldn't mind jumping back into bed.
  6. And the list goes on…

Many people have a morning routine like the one mentioned above and they are missing out on a lot of precious time!

Some people have an ideal morning routine but fail to follow through with it and others are just lazy.

But in the end, having a morning routine, whether it’s 2 minutes or 2 hours is extremely beneficial for forming the right mindset.

I’m not going to tell you how exactly you should be spending your mornings because there is no one way to do anything. Instead, I’ll provide you with the perfect ingredients you need to cook up a beautiful morning routine.

1. A spoonful of gratefulness

Practicing gratitude, even for as less as 30 seconds can make you feel so much happier and satisfied with your life.

devote some time to your morning routine to be thankful for all that you have.

Write down why u feel blessed gratitude journal.

You will find that you feel incredibly lucky to be who you are and that is very important to keep in mind as you continue with your daily activities.

Even if you are someone who is going through a rough patch in your life, I still think there are a number of things you should be grateful for.

You just need to dig deep and find what those things are.

2.A pinch of daily planning

Just mapping out your day or having at least an idea about how your day is going to go, can help you be more productive.

You don't need to write yourself a daily timetable, I find it more beneficial to just write down the things that I should get done for that day.

Writing down a to-do list is something that everyone should do snd writing it down first thing in the morning is crucial for a productive day.

3.A teaspoon of reflection

How was my day yesterday? Did I do everything that I wanted to do? Could I improve today? If so, then what should I be doing better?

You need to be asking yourself these questions every day.

I know it may seem a little unnecessary, but thinking back and asking yourself how you could have improved actually makes it easier to be a better person in the future.

Reflection on the past is as important as planning into the future.

4.A dash of reason to fuel your motivation

Ask yourself the big WHY? Why are you doing whatever it is that you are doing?

Is your work benefitting the community, are you giving back to society.

Most of us don't really know our WHY’s, we usually end up doing what we are doing because of social expectations or rules.

Facing our thoughts and trying to give meaning to them is usually the hardest part.

Just finding the reason behind all your actions can help you be more motivated to perform those actions or may help you focus on what really matters to you and contributes to your happiness.

5.A cup of self-care

self-care is the most necessary and fun part of a morning routine, yet, surprisingly, it is neglected and overlooked by many.

No one’s going to always be there to take care of you. You need to learn to take care of yourself.

So do what makes you happy.

Drink a hot cup of coffee or tea, write down what you're feeling in a journal, check in on yourself and your thoughts.

6. And Finally, a tablespoon of mindfulness

Last, but not the least mindfulness can go a long way in calming your mind before you dive into all your stress-inducing work.

Yoga, meditation, deep breathing, and visualization can help you take your mind to a place of serenity.

If all of that takes too much time then I suggest you just sit and observe your body and surroundings for a while.

Being mindful means being aware of everything that goes on around you and inside of you.

So observe your surroundings for a minute and take another minute to observe your thoughts.

Just by performing these simple actions without really expecting anything to come out of it will help us be more aware and focused on the tasks we have to perform during the day.

Key Takeaways

There is no one type of “perfect morning routine”.

Everyone can make their own perfect morning routines, all they need are the perfect ingredients.

So craft your own morning routine that has all of the elements to make you a better person.

In the end, the goal of a morning routine is to set you up for a productive and happy day ahead.
