What It’s Like To Watch the News When the Stock Market Goes Down in Flames, and You Need the Money
Scary. That’s the word.
I was about to kiss my date when my phone rang. It was Denis, one of the few people who had the number and weren’t on mute.
Denis never calls. He texts, at best, but usually speaks in memes. If he calls, you can be sure there’s a problem.
“Sorry, princess, I'll take that call, but hold that thought. We’ll return to it in my jacuzzi when I’m done with the jerk who dared disturb us as I was about to kiss you,” I told my date.
Women like it when you call them princesses. It’s usually enough to forgive you for answering your phone in the middle of a date.
“What’s up, D-Man? You got married in Vegas?” It’s a joke between us, but it’s for another story.
“Markets are down. Tesla is minus 25%, and APLD lost 32% overnight.” There was panic in Denis’ voice.
APLD is Applied Digital Corporation. It’s a tech stock that is supposed to strongly correlate with Nvidia, the Princess of the Tech Stocks. If my memory serves, Nvidia owns around 8 million shares. I had told Denis to invest at the time.
