Marsha Shandur, of the podcast Yes Yes Marsha, shared delightful wisdom on how to network in episode 35 of the Motionhatch podcast. A charming woman, experienced networker, and veteran motion designer, Miss Shandur gave a number of helpful tips on how to network.

Marsha had a number of excellent points, but always kept a few broad principles in practice. The first principle, which influenced nearly everything, was that people aren’t as famous, untouchable, or inapproachable as you might think. No matter how incredible their work or notorious their brand, the eager networker-to-be should always take the leap.

Another point that Marsha continually returned to was the low stakes of networking. Their are almost always no ill consequences to attempting to make conversation. If the other person happens to be rude, or disinterested in connecting, then nothing is lost. However, if a good connection is made, the value is limitless.

Marsha also mentioned, although perhaps only too briefly, that when we become anxious, we have some sort of goblin take over us. Marsha, of course, offers endearing tales of her own shortcomings and victories as well as various strategies to combat or work with this goblin.

All in all this podcast was packed in tightly with relevant and charming anecdotes and excellent practical advice. This episode comes with a high recommendation, even for the more experienced networker.
