Entrepreneurship and the Artist: Allyssa A. Lewis

Allyssa A Lewis, as featured on ASIFA-South podcast, is an entrepreneur in multiple ways, but mainly in the way that she handles the management of large animation pipelines and assists and directs new animators.

She seems to have been mainly self-taught through high-school and made good use of her school time during school to absorb as much information as she could before entering college. She has worked on shows such as Archer, but does not limit herself solely to the art of animation.

I learned from this podcast Allyssa’s view of challenge and dealing with failure, which is to power through it and continue to work hard despite the outcome. She also stressed the importance of learning about the business side of animation in order to better understand the organizations you hope to work for. I, personally, want to be self-employed as an artist, so I plan to do just that and research small business practice as much as I can.
