Although this is a short video, the Adventure Time theme intro has plenty of the principles of animation in it.

Appealing character design

One principle of animation that this video displays in appeal. Many of the characters, such as the main characters, Finn and Jake, have qualities that make them appealing to look at. While Finn is taller and is more visually balanced, Jake is more stout and the emphasis is more on his face. While both of them have some differences, the round characteristics of their design makes them more cute and appealing.

character staging

This video also does a good job with staging. In each new scene that comes up, the main character is framed in each scene so that the viewer has a clear view of what is meant to be shown. As seen above, the camera starts far away giving a full view of the environment, but closes in on the Ice King, allowing the viewer to easily see his emotion.

character exaggeration

This animation also includes good exaggeration with the characters. As seen with the character above, the animation style clearly exaggerates the mouth and eyes to make the character much more scary. This also goes well with the appeal principle because the extreme exaggeration makes the characters more appealing to look at.
