Animation Fundamentals: World War Crash
Cas is an independent animator from the Netherlands. You can find his animations on Youtube and Newgrounds. The animation we are going to look at now is World War Crash, a Crash Bandicoot parody animation.
In this case, we are looking at the exaggeration of the bandicoot’s dentures. Here we see that Cortex (the kid with the N on his head) is about twice as tall as the bandicoot. The dentures appear to be roughly the size of his hand, but when placed in the bandicoot’s mouth it becomes outrageously bigger. This emphasizes the characters big mouth in reference to the game character.
Here we see the character create some kind of arc, as he lifts his head to see what is making the noise. The smooth arc indicates the bandicoot’s alertness and ability to find the disturbance quickly.
Here we see an example of squash & stretch. As the bandicoot prepares to jump into his door, his body distorts and is elongated. Indicating that he is in motion. And as he jumps in, his body snaps back to its original shape.
