Promoting Good animation: The Night
The Night is a fun little animated music video made by Daria Cohen who used parts of the the song The Night by Voltaire. Daria crafted a fun yet creepy story, whos themes and story line is remincient of Courage the Cowardly dog. By that I mean it starts off nice ,calm but a little strange only to take wild twists and turns that exaggerates sterotypes and flip it on its head. In this case its just a spunky, adventurous, unassuming teen who visits a creepy castle for “moodlighting” her readings of Twlight ,only to discover a strange man with a malevolent smile.

The music and the color themes blends so perfectly to make the viewer engaged yet although the man is charming you never lose focus in the fact this man is just a huge creep. The highlight of this animation would have to be in the climax when the girl doesn’t even need to speak to know exactly what she’s planning. The setting hinting and her expresstions just allows you to read what she’s thinking and allows you to watch her plan to escape the man unfold.

Despite everything i’ve said about this animation there are some inbetween frames that are obviously badly drawn. Most easily noticed with characters in the back round of the setting. I realized that less detail is needed to create depth but that initself is not enough of an excuse of frames that could’ve been better.

Regardless the video is very charming and dear to me as the character’s body language creates such a well developed personality for both characters despite a lack of dialouge.
