Microsoft Dynamics® 365 Integration with MS Teams- Technical Document
1. About Dynamics 365 and Teams Integration Overview
Dynamics 365 integrates with Microsoft Teams so that you can access the data concerning different entities directly from MS Teams. This integration helps users work with both tools seamlessly.
2. Prerequisites for the Integration
Below are the prerequisites organization need to implement the integration between Teams and Dynamics 365:
· Users should access MS Teams for the specific organization
· Users should also access Dynamics CRM entities and specific data based on the security roles assigned.
3. How to Configure Dynamics CRM and MS Teams Integration
Like the other integrations, this one also involves a set of steps to configure both the Dynamics CRM Instance and Microsoft Teams. Please follow the series of steps mentioned below:
1. Navigate to Dynamics 365 CRM Instance > Settings > System Settings > Preview Tab
a. Click the check box which reads “I have read and agreed to the license terms”
b. Check Yes on the Microsoft Teams Integration preview
c. Click OK
2. Open Microsoft Teams and go to the Teams button in the left pane. Create a public team through the wizard following their simple steps.
i. Click on the “Create Team” button
a) Click on “Build a team from Scratch”
b) Select a “Public” or “Private” team
c) Click on the highlighted + button
d) Add the Connector
e) Select the entity from the Sales Hub App shown in the dropdown, select the System View, and click on Save.
f) Once done, it will show the relevant data in the MS Teams.
g) The connector is enabled in the left pane by clicking the three dots and adding the Dynamics 365 Connector; it allows an auto chatbot. Any salesperson can question Dynamics 365 for getting a specific set of data.
4. User Accounts for Setup
The below users and accounts are required for this setup in both Dynamics CRM and MS Teams.
5. Limitation of this Integration
One of the limitations of these integrations is that users can only view one specific entity and at a time in the Microsoft Teams.
Conclusion
· Depends on the system’s capability as to what extent the integration APIs/services are exposed.
· The data and information are critical, so not all the data can be integrated.
· Importing data is cumbersome, as in hybrid systems or a product, the integration works only on a certain type of data, with tightly bound structure, so sometimes it fails.
