Beyond Lucid Technologies Becomes the First EMS-Facing Member of CommonWell Health Alliance

Concord, CA and Boston, MA (Sept. 18, 2015) — Beyond Lucid Technologies, which develops software to connect ambulances and medical transport vehicles with care facilities prior to a patient’s arrival, is pleased to announce that it is the first EMS-facing technology firm to join CommonWell Health Alliance as a general member.

CommonWell, a non-profit trade association, is dedicated to the simple vision that health data should be available regardless of where care occurs. CommonWell Health Alliance is committed to facilitating interoperability among practitioners across the healthcare spectrum by enabling health care providers to manage patient identity, support consent management, and facilitate better coordination across the health care continuum.

In joining the diverse group of CommonWell members in pursuit of the goal of providing better care and outcomes for providers and the people they serve, Beyond Lucid Technologies is facilitating data exchange among prehospital care providers in the field and the electronic health records in-use by care facilities like hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and doctors’ offices to track patient care over time. So-called “longitudinal charting” is new to the EMS industry, which has historically focused on documenting individual patient encounters. Joining CommonWell is a step toward prehospital health information exchange and post-discharge follow-up, for which BLT received support from the California Health Care Foundation in August.

“We’re excited to add Beyond Lucid Technologies, representing the Emergency Medical Services and medical transportation segment, to our diverse membership,” said Nick Knowlton, Membership Committee chair for CommonWell Health Alliance and Vice President at Brightree. “We look to our collective membership to build bridges across the care continuum to enhance nationwide interoperability.”

Jonathon Feit, Co-Founder & Chief Executive of Beyond Lucid Technologies, said: “In EMS and medical transport, data needs to flow with as few barriers as possible, because lives depend on transfer of information quickly and seamlessly. Joining CommonWell Health Alliance was a natural progression of our mission. We’re thrilled to carry the torch for the industry, which is learning the value of interoperability.”
