Are you bored by the same old same light and dark mode throughout all of your devices? Sure it was great when Google, Apple, and Microsoft finally brought something different than the regular white background with black ink.

However, after all these years with the same basic color palette, it is a welcomed change to see more and more developers supporting custom themes.

With the many community plugins for Obsidian, it is only logical to expect just as many themes by the community.

As such, the variety does not disappoint. But before we take a look at themes and see where we can find them let us first discover how we can install a theme.

Installing a New Theme

New custom themes are located in vault/.obsidian/snippets/. The folder .obsidian is hidden, so the best way to locate the above path is to go the following path:

  1. Click on the Settings symbol on the lower left side of Obsidian
  2. Click on the Appearance tab
  3. Under the section “CSS snippets”, click on the folder icon on the right
