An AI capable of spawning more AI to achieve goals — does that sound great? I thought so as well. Hence, I tested AutoGPT. However, reality is significantly different from fantasy. And quite like Belle Delfine’s career, enthusiasm quickly died off.

Here is my experience with AutoGPT.

You might think that I’ve created this very blog with the help of AI. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Or maybe I’m an AI myself — then, yes, this blog was indeed created using an AI. In any case, for the AutoGPT to work, you need to provide your OpenAI API key. Here comes the first obstacle:

If you didn’t create your account just now, you’ll receive the following error:

Error: API Rate Limit Reached. Waiting 10 seconds...

You’ll fall into a loop. A quick Google search provided the following solutions.

  • Create a new account, and hopefully, you’ll have an $18 credit which you can throw out for testing.
  • Provide your credit card information.

I don’t know which devil got into me, but I did the latter. In hindsight, I could have created a new account with a fake email. Anyways…

TL;DR
