After months of anticipation, the Oklahoma City Dodgers 2021 baseball season schedule was announced Thursday in conjunction with Major League Baseball.

The Dodgers are scheduled to play 142 games as part of the Triple-A West, beginning April 8 in Tacoma against the Rainiers (Seattle Mariners).

OKC’s 2021 slate includes 72 home games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark beginning with the team’s first home series of the season April 15–20 against the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers).

The Dodgers are looking forward to their first game after the 2020 Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and their most recent game wrapped up the 2019 regular season Sept. 2, 2019 against New Orleans at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

“I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say this is the most anticipated season schedule in Oklahoma City baseball history,” OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said in a release. “After not being able to have a season last year due to health and safety concerns, this announcement is a significant step toward baseball returning to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Last year we saw 16 former OKC players help the Los Angeles Dodgers to a World Series Championship, and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store.”

The majority of OKC’s games will be against teams in the East Division of the Triple-A West — Albuquerque (Colorado Rockies), El Paso (San Diego Padres), Round Rock and Triple-A newcomer Sugar Land (Houston Astros).

West Division teams Salt Lake (Los Angeles Angels), Las Vegas (Oakland A’s), Reno (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Sacramento (San Francisco Giants) will make visits to Oklahoma City, while the Dodgers will travel to Tacoma and Salt Lake.

All series between the Dodgers and their opponents will be six games in length this season and the team will have each Wednesday off in an effort to reduce travel and benefit player wellness throughout 2021. The season is scheduled to wrap up Sept. 21 against Round Rock in OKC. The Dodgers’ full schedule can be viewed here.

Single-game tickets for the OKC Dodgers’ April and May home games will go on sale March 9. Season ticket packages and group outings are available now by calling (405) 218–1000 or by visiting okcdodgers.com/tickets.

Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark will operate with a reduced capacity to begin the 2021 baseball season, and the Dodgers are closely working with the OKC-County Health Department on making the fan experience as safe as possible. A preliminary look at the OKC Dodgers’ health and safety protocols can be found here, with further updates to come.

The Dodgers will announce their full slate of promotions and game times in the near future, but confirmed Fireworks Fridays will return this season. Fireworks will also follow OKC’s home opener April 15, as well as when OKC hosts Salt Lake July 4.

The 2021 Minor League Baseball season begins overall April 6 with teams in the Triple-A East opening their schedules. Triple-A West teams follow soon after with April 8 start dates, while Double-A and Single-A teams are slated to begin their 120-game campaigns May 4.

“The 2021 Minor League Baseball season will preserve the unique local traditions and the affordable fun and excitement that fans have loved for generations, while introducing more ways for fans to engage with their favorite team,” Morgan Sword, MLB’s Executive Vice President, Baseball Operations, said in a release.

“As we strengthen player development, teams will continue to do what they always have: making games fun. We can’t wait for Minor League Baseball’s Opening Days in ballparks across the country. This schedule represents a big step forward for our player development system. Under this new alignment and format, travel will be significantly reduced for players and coaches, with an increase in off days. We hope that these new health and wellness improvements will help players in their path to the big leagues.”
