Andriese Named PCL Pitcher of Week
Pitcher becomes third OKC Dodgers player to receive weekly award from MiLB
Matt Andriese was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for May 8–14 by Minor League Baseball Monday.
The right-handed starting pitcher combined with two relievers to pitch the Dodgers’ first nine-inning shutout of 2023 in a 6–0 win May 12 in Round Rock.
Andriese, 33, pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He matched his longest start of the season and tied a season high with six strikeouts, retiring 18 of the 20 batters he faced overall.
The 6-foot, 2-inch, 215-pound Andriese retired the first 10 batters of the game as well as 17 of the first 18 batters. Andriese also did not allow a walk for a fourth consecutive start (20.1 IP).
He is the third OKC player to receive weekly honors this season, joining catcher Hunter Feduccia (April 17–23) and pitcher William Cuevas (April 24–30).
Overall this season with OKC, Andriese is 3–2 with a 5.50 ERA over eight starts (37.2 IP). He has recorded 31 strikeouts against seven walks.
His eight starts are tied for the PCL lead, while his ERA ranks sixth. He also ranks among league leaders in WHIP (3rd, 1.33), average (5th, .281) and innings (T-5th, 37.2).
Andriese, from Redlands, Calif., signed with the Dodgers as a free agent Jan. 30.
