One core business strategy of the Oklahoma City Dodgers is to be involved in the community.

That civic-minded cornerstone takes many forms throughout the year — from donating time and resources, to mascot appearances, to hosting non-profit events at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, to efforts of the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation, to special promotions during baseball games and beyond.

The OKC Dodgers closed out 2021 by stepping up and out around central Oklahoma in a variety of ways.

Here are some highlights:

OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes and Partner Services Coordinator Molly Gamber joined Oklahoma Fidelity Bank in presenting a check to Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, which assists children and families in their grief journey.

The money donated was raised through Oklahoma Fidelity Bank’s Home Runs for Charities promotion, as the bank donated $50 for every home run hit by the OKC Dodgers during home games throughout the 2021 season. The Dodgers then matched those donations.

Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark hosted KFOR-TV for a recent “A Place to Call Home” feature with reporter and anchor Lauren Daniels. LifeShare WinterFest snow tubing served as the backdrop, introducing viewers to Alaysia who was searching for a forever home while in Oklahoma foster care.

OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes and Partner Services Coordinator Molly Gamber recently joined The Oklahoman to present a check to The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

The money donated was raised through the 2021 Clubhouse Collectibles auction, presented by The Oklahoman, which featured game-worn, game-used and autographed Dodgers memorabilia fans bid on throughout a Dodgers home game.

OKC Dodgers Director of Communications and Broadcasting Alex Freedman participated in a career day-type seminar at Moore High School joining other area professionals to meet with students and answer questions.

Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark served as host for numerous community-related events recently, including the We Build OK softball charity game, OKBio BrewFest, Paint the Town Pink Drive-In Gala, Bricktown menorah lighting and Arts Council OKC Opening Night.

Academy Sports + Outdoors, in partnership with the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation, donated 100 children’s bikes and helmets to the Latino Community Development Agency in preparation for the holiday season. The bikes were then gifted to families in need identified through the LCDA. Read more about the donation here.

The OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation recently set up a variety of volunteer opportunities that allowed Dodgers staff to give their time to four metro-area non-profit organizations. Read more about the staff’s day of service here.
