Nick Frasso’s sparkling Triple-A debut Sunday resulted in him being named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 21–27 the following day.

Minor League Baseball announced the recognition Monday as Frasso became the 10th Oklahoma City Dodgers player to receive a weekly honor this season. The Dodgers have now claimed four of the last five PCL Pitcher of the Week awards.

Sunday against Albuquerque at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, Frasso earned the win, pitching 6.0 scoreless innings in the Dodgers’ 14–0 victory. He allowed two hits and one walk and four strikeouts. He retired the final 13 batters he faced and threw 80 pitches (51 strikes).

Frasso was one of four Dodgers pitchers who combined for the Dodgers’ sixth shutout of the season, holding Albuquerque to five hits, one walk and recording a combined 10 strikeouts. Sunday’s 14–0 win tied for the team’s largest shutout win ever at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and tied for the second-largest shutout win in the Bricktown era overall with a 14–0 shutout win on April 25, 1998 in OKC. Sunday was also the team’s largest shutout win overall since a 19–0 victory in Round Rock last season on May 12, 2022.

Frasso had joined OKC’s roster earlier that day from Double-A Tulsa where he had led the Drillers with 21 starts.

At the time of his promotion to OKC, Frasso led the Double-A Tulsa Drillers with 21 starts. The 6-foot, 5-inch, 200-pound Frasso went 3–4 with a 3.91 ERA in 73.2 IP with the Drillers. His 94 strikeouts were second-most on the team and he had allowed just 24 walks, posting a 1.25 WHIP with Tulsa. His 21 starts were tied for fifth-most in the Texas League in late August.

The right-handed pitcher was named Texas League Pitcher of the Month for April, compiling a 1.23 ERA and a 1–1 record. In 22.0 innings, he allowed just three runs, 16 hits and five walks with 30 strikeouts. He recorded a 0.95 WHIP and held opponents to a .203 batting average.

He is currently rated as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ №4 prospect by MLB Pipeline and №9 Dodgers prospect by Baseball America.

Frasso was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. In August 2022 he was traded, along with LHP Moises Brito, to the Dodgers in exchange for RHP Mitch White and 2B Alex De Jesus. The native of Torrance, Calif., played collegiately at Loyola Marymount University.
