Six scoreless innings against the Round Rock Express Sept. 3 resulted in pitcher Gavin Stone’s third Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week recognition of the 2023 season as well as his third recognition since July 9.

Minor League Baseball named Stone, 24, PCL Pitcher of the Week for Aug. 28-Sept. 3 after he equaled his season high with 6.0 scoreless innings Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Stone entered the game to start the third inning following a Major League Rehab Appearance by Walker Buehler and retired the first 11 batters he faced as well as 18 of the 20 batters he faced overall, allowing a walk in the sixth inning and a double in the seventh inning. He recorded his seventh win of the season as he improved to 7–4, throwing 80 pitches (50 strikes).

Stone is the 11th OKC player to receive a weekly award this season, is the fifth OKC pitcher in the last six weeks to receive a weekly honor and second straight following pitcher Nick Frasso’s recognition last week.

Stone last received multiple Pitcher of the Week honors during the 2021 season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga — Aug. 1 and Aug. 15, 2021.

In addition to this week, Stone was also named PCL Pitcher of the Week July 9 and Aug. 6 this season with Oklahoma City.

Stone is 5–0 over his last nine appearances with OKC and has lowered his season ERA from 6.71 to 4.74, posting a 2.49 ERA across 47.0 IP with 56 strikeouts and 16 walks while holding opponents to a .168 batting average.
